One thing that happens when you begin to channel is that you will be talking with your Sprit Guide. So, what exactly do you talk about? I suppose it depends on the person. I can tell you what I do. I don’t know what other people do.
Imagine you are a writer. You write about stuff. You read
the news, you do research. Depending on what sort of things you are writing
about you will probably be reading things that you might someday write about.
Like I am interested in the historical period of the American West. I am
interested in it from a number of points of views. From people who lived there
first, Native Americans, from the people seeking asylum from other
countries and from people who were fleeing the overcrowded and depressing
conditions of cities in the east seeking a new start in life.
Like now, there were all sorts of people in on the “craze”
of the American west; how you could go west, pan for gold and be rich. How
romantic things were. Stuff like that. Stuff that we, even today, are beset
with in our own meandering across the news and what others write on the
internet and in books.
It’s a jungle out there.
Let me ask you this? Just how influenceable are you? Do you
buy into whatever the latest rumors and lies are? This has been going on for
years. People writing for fashion magazines are thrilled to hear what so and so
is wearing as their hat or designer ensemble. Personally, I don’t care about that. Or who is
sleeping with who? I also don’t care about that. Life is tough. The paparazzi
is relentless. Sleep with whoever you want to sleep with. Marry who you want.
Live the life you want to live. It is nobody else’s business what you decide to
do as long as you don’t break the law everywhere.
Hey, I talk to dead guys. Do you see me standing on some
soapbox? No. I vote we all work hard, we dream, and we talk to whoever we want.
I will avoid, like the plague, groups who endorse the suppression of other
people because of their race, their gender, their education, their sexual
orientation, their national origin or if they talk to dead people.
Anyway, back to the idea of what is it like to talk to
Spirit Guides, who may or may not have been alive at some point. It’s like
seeing how many angels fit on the head of a pin. The thing is, is that people
who are not people in body also have jobs wherever they go when they are not in
body.
You’d think if you were talking to a spiritual guide, you’re
talking to somebody who is going to be a preacher like person. Somebody who is
going to help you be good and get to Heaven eventually. That’s what I figured.
I had a lot of questions. My Spirit Guide, Seth, humored me. Like the time I
asked him who was in charge, thinking he’d say something about God. He
surprised me when he said nobody was in charge. Or the time I asked him if
anyone heard our prayers thinking he would say that God heard our prayers. I
mean, that’s mostly who we pray to, right? He hedged on the answer saying only
that our prayers are always heard…by somebody. Which sort of goes along with my
question of who is in charge. Nobody.
That’s how I started in 1993. I was also exceedingly polite. I mean,
you’d be polite, wouldn’t you if you were talking to a preacher or to somebody
like the pope, wouldn’t you?
This turned out to not be necessary. I realized that when I
slipped into a very satisfying outburst on my way to work one morning and I was
absolutely surrounded by homicidal drivers. I exclaimed aloud in my car while I
drove by myself that they were all assholes. My Spirit Guide took the
opportunity to agree and said, “Everybody has one.”
If that doesn’t jar you out of a tantrum, I don’t know what
will.
That was where the idea of a Spirit Guide also being
humorous entered into my life.
There was what I expected and there was what actually
happened.
Or the time I dropped a half gallon carton of milk on the kitchen
floor and it exploded. I was so shocked I hadn’t even had the time to work up a
rant about it. There was milk everywhere. That entire carton of milk…on the
floor…on the cabinets…on me…dripping. I hadn’t even had the opportunity to take
a breath when my Spirit Guide said to me, “Oh, happy accident.” Jesus, what a
way to take the wind out of your sails. After I was done, the kitchen floor hadn’t been that
clean in years.
I guess you can tell I’ve been working on my patience and
anger all these years. It’s a slow hard slog, but it really has helped me to
have a different point of view. Talking to Spirit will do that. It was
something I had not expected would happen.

Moi?
Yes, you.
I might be persuaded. What are we talking about?
Yeah, like you don’t know.
Well, perhaps your readers think that Spirit steps
back and allows you your privacy.
Right. I didn’t address that. Once you start channeling you
will never hear an end to it.
I beg your pardon?
No, really. Spirit knows the taste in your mouth you crave.
They know how you are feeling. They know when you are happy or sad. They know
what bothers you. They don’t always butt in and speak their mind, but they are
there for you.
Again, I beg your pardon.
Sorry. I’m just talking plain stuff here. You know you saved
my life, right?
Yes, I get that idea every once in a while.
Folks, Seth is teasing, but he is making a point too. When I
first learned how to channel, I was coming off of many years of spiritual doubt.
It was heart wrenching at the time. My situation has been eased. Oh, I have to
tell you, when I grew up, we had a family culture of cursing. I can remember as
a little girl trying to be grown up and emulate my father who swore like a sea
dog. Anyway, it still happens to this day, though I do try to keep it reined in
when I am talking or writing. But there was this one time when I was cursing.
It has happened when I exclaim Jesus or God and somebody in Spirit says, “Yes?”
It’s just a subtle reminder not to curse. At least as much as I used to do.
The point is that Spirit has shown me an approachable side.
I don’t know what it is like for other channels, and I’d love if you’d comment
if you’ve got your own story to tell. But for me it’s like talking to somebody
I love.
I know that no matter what I say they will help me through
it. Maybe this is something you’d like to have in your life too.
I have instituted more regular conversations with Seth and
others in Spirit who’d like to talk. The transition between me in my head to me
and Spirit is easier these days for me. In the early days, it was like trying
to meditate. By the time I’d gotten to a place where I could think that I was
into a good meditation a lot of time had passed. Forty-five minutes? Maybe.
Now, I take a deep breath and I sink. So, too, is getting into a position for
me to channel a bit easier. I might even say it is as easy as falling off a log.
Perhaps it could be like that for you too.
Tell them what you do, Dear.
Right. There is a Daily Channeling segment on the main page
at TalkingtoSpirit.com. It changes every day and is absolutely channeled
information by Seth. So far, anyway. I’ve done some 76 entries. I think we
started in late August, 2025. The idea is that eventually there will be at
least 356 days available, one for each day in the year that will cycle one
after the other. These might eventually end up in a book, though time will tell
as we move through them.
The thing is that if I open up a blank page and don’t have a
way to lean into a topic sometimes the first attempts at channeling are
awkward. Not for Seth, certainly, but for me. I can feel I’m wondering if I am
presentable, if I’ve got spinach stuck on my teeth, if my dress is crooked.
Just imagine whatever stage fright you can imagine. Except, I am by myself, probably
in my nightgown and robe like I am right now, nowhere near ready to be “in
front of an audience”. What I figured helps me is to have a bit of conversation
with Seth. Presumably, it centers around the topic of the next seven to ten
days of channeling will be. It is easier for me to follow the channeling if
there are no lane changes between bits of channeling.
It’s a document that I keep separate from the actual bits of
channeling that are going into a java script file on the website, but I note at
the beginning of each entry what number we’ll start with. It’s also a very nice
way to have a nice chunk of channeling. Just for me. Now, I did my chunk of channeling
this morning already. Because I got the idea to share with you what it’s like
to talk with Seth and others in Spirit, I moved over to writing this article.
Basically, it’s like talking to a friend and to a spiritual
advisor. Except, sometimes there are more practical applications. Like today
our conversation, or rather, what Seth was talking about had to do with how
similar bosses and people working for themselves really are. Not anything to do
with spiritual enlightenment, just good ordinary advice.
I would interject a final statement. It is appreciated
that you have read this blog post as it is called. The unfolding of the process
that goes into the surrendering of self into a spiritual channeling is a most
significant part of anyone’s life. We are both pleased to share it with you.
