Cleaning Makes Me Happy...NOT

No, in no way, shape, or form does cleaning make me happy. Now, seeing other people clean is a totally different matter. I don’t mind that at all. Just like it’s always been an enjoyable experience when I watch other people work. This, by the way, made me a great supervisor.

I’m kidding. I was a supervisor, but I also worked hard. The Virgo in me wanted to do the job over again after they had gone home. Which eventually led me to take early retirement. But I am happy now that I am penniless because I get to write all day long. If I want to.

Yesterday, I wrote so late into the evening that I was dreaming all night. Nothing related to what I’d been writing. It was just a busy night in my head. Eventually, around four this morning, I realized I was writing in my head. Not cleaning. No, you would never catch me cleaning in my head. Writing is another matter.

For people who write in their heads, I would advise keeping a small notebook close at hand. It doesn’t matter where inspiration will strike. At least, it’s always been that way with me. I remember once, many years ago, I had the idea of how to get myself out of a corner I’d written myself into. Picture painting the floor and working your way into the one corner with no door or window in sight. You can do that while writing. Hence, writing yourself into a corner.

Anyway, I’d been there stymied for a few weeks. The idea came to me in the morning. I shouted with glee. My supervisor rounded the corner to see what I was up to. I explained to her what had happened. “I know what to do. I figured it out.” What she wanted to know. We were at work, after all. She rightly figured whatever I’d thought of was work-related. I’ll never forget her face. Hey, people can multitask. Right?

In any case, having a small notebook nearby is good. All you have to do is write down a few words, and hopefully it will all come back to you later, when the time is right, and you can sit down and write.

Thanks for reading. I know this isn’t exactly in the WooWoo lane of life, but I feel writing is important for everybody.
