I’m a changed woman. Not really, but I think it is sometimes helpful to say things like that.
You might ask why, and all I can tell you is that I feel
like doing something different today, and I think I might be able to. It won’t
be anything outlandish, like deciding to become a movie star. I mean, really?
I could start with
being kind.
Okay, that sounds
good. What should I do?
You might start
with yourself.
Oh, you’re going to
join in, then?
Yes, I thought you
might welcome a little input from Spirit.
Okay, I’m up for
that. Is this Seth?
Of course. Who did
you think it might be?
Well, I was just
talking to my brother a little while ago. I thought maybe he wanted to join in.
Not today. Maybe
another time, though he is observing.
Okay. So, this thing
about being kind to myself. What do you figure I could do?
Well, it looks
like it’s going to be hotter today than it was yesterday. And yesterday was
quite hot.
Okay…so, where are
you going with this?
You don’t know?
No, I’m trying to be
surprised here.
If you are going
to start a wave of kindness, beginning with yourself is a perfect place to
start. The question is, then, how? What does being kind to yourself mean?
I suppose if I were
working, I could take a mental health day.
Yes, I suppose you
could, though back when you were working, mental health days did not exist. Hangover
days did, though we frowned upon them generally. Nobody would confess to being hungover.
And I don’t drink
anymore, so there’s no chance of that happening.
If you were to take
a mental health day, what would you do?
Well, it’s not even
9:15 a.m., and I’m feeling the heat. I just turned on the fan. That should
help.
Yes, and so it is.
What else?
Well, I’d make sure
to drink more water. I actually felt the cool come over me the other day when I
drank some ice water. That had never happened before.
That sounds like a
plan. What would be a special thing to do?
I’d like to start on
a crochet project. I could learn how to do an African Flower motif. Maybe two
of them.
That sounds
ambitious.
Okay, look, you don’t
need to be snide about it.
Why do you think I’m
being snide?
Because I’ve been
talking about making some squares for the sweater I’m planning to make.
Excellent for a
hot day.
Squares are not a
sweater. Squares are not going to heat you up.
So, too, is it
with prayer. If a person were to regularly engage in prayer, other than
praying, they are fortifying their connection with God. It doesn’t matter what
they are praying for; the fact that they are seeking a connection is the more
important thing. The thing that will last longer and be a sturdy thing, not a
fragile connection at all.
People who say
they read scripture or read inspirational or even motivational things early on
in their days will be able to make that connection, that seeking to last the
entire day even when they are no longer thinking about it.
Wow. I didn’t know
you were going to veer off that way.
It helps to keep
you on your toes.
I’d say. And thanks.
So, it was just a
short bit of channeling from my Spirit Guide, Seth. I hope it might inspire you
to do something kind for yourself. Thanks for reading. Come back for more. I
post twice a week at TalkingtoSpirit.com.
