Talking to God

I’d like to introduce you to God. I had no idea 40 years ago I’d end up doing things like that. I mean, it sort of reminds me of missionary groups who come to visit in twos and threes, ring my doorbell, and ask if I know Jesus.

I have to admit, the last time that happened I said, “Yes, I do. Would you like to talk to him?” It was sort of funny. Like a fart-in-church funny. For some reason, I just got a visual of somebody in Spirit writing something on a paper. No, that doesn’t bode well. Except I don’t think they’re being serious.

That’s how my psychic visions are. Quick, out of the corner of my eye. They mostly happen when I’ve got my eyes closed, which is how I write most of what I write. Atrocious spelling errors when I come back to look at what I’ve written—where the words to and of look like ot and fo.

Anyway, back to God. I’ve been drawn to spiritual things for much of my life. Nobody in my family would say that. In their minds, I’m something else. Not that it matters much. We were a military family and grew up moving a lot. Many of us didn’t have lifelong friends, and I drifted away from most of them early on after my husband and I married. Not all, but by now? Yes, I’m not in touch. There have been three who have passed, and I do talk to those members of the family, just because I’m psychic and I know you can do that.

Actually, you don’t have to be psychic to talk to your loved ones who have passed on. In fact, right now, stop reading and think about a family member who has passed on. The older you are, the more of them there are. It’s funny; I just imagined knowing so many folk in Spirit that you’d need a stadium. Someone in Spirit just said, “Rent a room.” You really don’t need that unless you do it to imagine them there.

What I normally do is say, “Mom?” That’s all. From wherever she is, whatever she is doing, I know she is with me. I can smell her. I can feel her touch. Sometimes I don’t even say anything. Like now, as I write this article, I am crying, tears of being reunited with my mother, who has been gone for so many years. But not completely gone. Now she is with me. I’m trying to show you how easy it is to talk to Spirit.

You don’t need a special place, unless it would help you. A garden, a pew, sitting on a park bench, or just sitting with a cup of tea at your kitchen table.

When I first learned to be psychic, it was difficult for me to imagine things. Now, with all the years of practice I’ve had, it is easy for me to be with Spirit. I remember how hard it was for me to get into a meditative state of mind. The sinking, how I removed one tether after another, the thoughts that held me to the “here and now,” allowing them to drift away for a little bit.

I was never afraid that I would lose myself and not make it back to my reality, to my body.

It’s like learning to swim. Do you remember that time when you were learning? How difficult it was to trust that when you let go of the side of the pool, you would float rather than sink like a stone and drown? Yes, learning to meditate, learning to be psychic, and learning how to be with Spirit were like that for me. I think that might have been because I had trust issues. I was afraid. To be truthful, I still am. But a person learns.

My sister told me after one of my brothers had passed that he liked to go out on their land after work to talk to God. She said he’d just have a chat with God about the things that had happened that day. Whatever was on his mind. She told me he wanted to become a minister. I never knew. But that’s the sort of relationship with God I’m talking about. A friend for you rather than a distant head of state. Does that make sense? I hope so.

I was brought up to know God as a distant and unreachable thing. A thing. Like the voice from a radio. The priests were there to tell me what God really meant. Like I couldn’t hear for myself?

I’m just asking you to have a quick couple of words with God sometime. In fact, you could do it now. All you have to do is say, “Hi”.
