Some Advice About Journeys

I used to think becoming anything—a doctor, a lawyer, a plumber—meant crossing a clear line. Before, you’re not. After, you are. There was a logical progression between: I know nothing, and I know something. There was a beginning, and there was an end.

Being a writer, well, the route I took didn’t involve college or diplomas. I just wrote. I learned by reading. I know a bit about grammar and spelling to do okay. I proofread my stuff. Several times. I read a lot.

Being a psychic, well, that was more difficult than becoming a writer. Sure, it took a similarly long time—years, it was. It took a lot of teachers. It took a lot of books. The thing is that there isn’t one standard psychic position for everyone to strive for. You decide that.

You’re going to be a different kind of psychic than I am. It was very interesting to me that my own journey would end up where it is now. Also, I didn’t know I was going to have to figure myself out. Not completely. Where is the fun in that? No, as I grow stronger and more able, the universe has a funny way of giving you something else to think about. I’m just saying that’s one thing I’ve learned.

Basically, no matter where your interests lie, there will always be another goal for you to strive for. Multiple ones. In fact, as you go through life, you won’t be able to recognize the next goal until you’ve done a bunch of preliminary work.

You will never be finished. And rather than feeling uncompleted or that you didn’t do a good job, think of it in terms of it being an unfinished journey. Like a mirage that shimmers in the distance. You will grow closer. You will be able to taste victory and perhaps even have the opportunity to bask in it, but from where I sit now? At 71 years old, I can say there will always be somewhere else for you to be.

That’s not very Zen-like, I suppose. I struggle with being okay in the moment. Hey, none of us are perfect, right? It’s just where I am, where I’ve been, and where I’m going.

Celebrate your victories and your journeys in life. Even the hard ones.

Thanks for reading. Come back for more. By the way, I’m still taking on students. You will be doing much of this yourself. I don’t charge any money, so the selection process is rigorous, but you’ve all got a shot at it. All you have to do is not be afraid and have an open mind. But, who am I to say that’s even a requirement at the beginning. It will be once you’ve started on the path.

Expect an interesting life ahead of you. I think that is the best advice I can give you, whoever you are. There is a beginning. There is no end.
