Being Psychic and Writing

Being psychic is not the first thing about me. It’s something relatively new that I embraced and allowed to expand in my life. I suppose you might compare it to the time you learned how to whistle. For one moment, it wasn’t there, and it appeared in the next. From the moment that skill was learned, it felt as if you’d always known how to whistle.

Even though this website is geared towards people who are interested in psychic channeling and in hearing what Spirit Guides and interested Folk in Spirit have to say, it is also about me. The me that is a writer. These days, I mostly work on short essays that land in different places on the Internet. The links are below if you are interested. No two blog posts or essays are the same. They can be similar as I expand upon certain subjects.

Many of these areas I investigate and wonder about are things that you do too. I tend to like the details. I love to see how I learn things. Where with the first glance you see an overall view of a subject, to later on, after you’ve got some basics in hand you can begin to pick apart the subject.

For many years, I have been a psychic channel. That happened in 1993, I’m sure, a long time before many of the folks reading this were born. For so long, it was important to me to see a clear distinction between myself and them. Them being the Folk in Spirit I talked to. I still will put whatever they say in a Bold Italic font just to keep that difference clear. However, all along, I knew that Spirit would sneak in with what I wrote. It was subtle. Many times I ignored it feeling my autonomy was more important.

What I failed to realize is that was part of the magic. My magic. I decided I would not be as concerned about that feeling it was preventing me from really getting into the action, from being as creative as I could be. I typically settle in to a short conversation with my Spirit Guide Seth. I hate surprises. Always have. And, that short conversation, which I record in a separate document is where I am lulled into a more receptive mood for channeling, good channeling to occur. This is the part where if Seth is going to be speaking of productivity or happiness or whatever is mostly revealed to me. If I know where the direction of a bit of channeling is going, I am more relaxed about it. Hence, there are no jarring surprises.

I’ve already been doing that for a little bit with the Daily Channeling selections that appear each new day on this website. It’s on the front page. It’s always on the right-hand side and, for the most part, these bits of channeling are short.

I have also started a project this month to try to write a novel. I realize that my characters step in from Spirit. That happened a couple of years ago when I started a book set in the 1880s in South Dakota, and a character named Daniel emerged. I was mostly afraid of this new revelation of a character, as I had always been in charge of my books. This was different, and it has taken me a while to get used to the idea of having more of a collaborative relationship with my characters.

To that end, a couple of days ago, someone in Spirit —I can’t remember who —suggested that we have a staff meeting before I write each day. This meeting would be similar to the one I have with Seth before I do the Daily Channeling bits. The characters would show up. I’d get to know them, and if they had any preferences as to what was going on in the book, they would have the opportunity to speak.

My point with this post is to show how different my life as a writer now is different from the way I wrote before. And, it is one more way to interact with Spirit than I ever knew was going to happen when I first learned how to channel in 1993.

Thanks for reading.
