You might be interested to know that I don’t regularly allow myself to be swept into psychicness. In the beginning, yes, I needed to do deliberate things to help me transition between what I thought of as my normal life, the job I had, life with my husband, reading books, and occasionally writing. It was just my life. And, to delve deeper, to sink, to be swept into other lands, fairy tale places, where I could see the wind, where I could smell something happening 500 miles away. That psychic space I tried so hard to experience was so difficult to get to.
The problem was that I didn’t really know what it looked
like. I only had the word of other people who said they were psychics to even
know there was such a place.
The problem is their psychic places were all different.
So, I figured, of all of them, where did I feel the most
comfortable?
Of course, there were the Seth books by Jane Roberts I’d
read as a teenager. Then, as an adult, I read Emmanuel by Pat Rodegast. I read
Michael Harner’s books on Shamanic journeys. I read Carlos Castaneda’s books
about Don Juan. All were different. All were similar.
In retrospect, I would say you’ve just got to take that first
step. On your own. You have reflections of those who have gone before you, yet
nowhere does it say any one of them was correct. I suppose it’s like a pair of shoes
that fit well. Somebody else might really enjoy wearing six-inch stilettos.
You, however, feel better in your slippers. Both are footwear. Neither one is
more correct than the other. Both kinds of footwear work.
There were some basics I knew I needed to pay attention to.
Meditating was one. Meditating was also something I found difficult. Turns out
there are a lot of different ways to meditate. Basically, you need to learn how
to get your mind to quiet down. Easy to say. Hard to do.
Then, once you are quiet, you try to stay quiet. Having
something in mind is important at times. Like if you were to meditate on the
word Om or Amen (both related). Or, if you just wanted to play around with a
color. Blue. Like I said, lots of different ways to meditate. I would caution
you against making a long meditation your goal.
When you dig deep into meditation, you dig deeper into your
emotional health. This is where you find all sorts of things that still hurt,
that are still issues that are your next step of personal growth. Working hand
in hand with a personal journal to blat all this overload of information onto
paper and/or with a psychotherapist to help you over the rough spots is a good
thing. I didn’t know that going into my own practice of meditation. All I
thought was that I wasn’t doing it correctly and quickly jumped on the step
where I proclaimed, “Pauline, you are yet again a dismal failure”. Years later,
I would realize that each of those perceived failures were never failures at
all. They were steps in the right direction and each one of them a small success. I wish I’d known that then. Perhaps,
if you are reading this, you might find it a revelation. Or, you knew it all
along, in which case I would say, “Congratulations”.
So, read some about how psychics got to be psychic. Some
exhibited their psychic natures from an early age. People like Sonja Browne,
James Van Praagh, or The Long Island Medium, Theresa Caputo. Others, like me,
who only had people telling me I was crazy, as I grew up to become a full-blown
psychic at the age of 35 years old.
If it’s something you’re interested in, go for it. I would
advise anybody who is still a teenager or a young adult to be careful. You’ve
still got a lot of living to do before you’re ready for a drastic change in
your life. And I do mean drastic. Also, if you are under a doctor’s care for emotional
problems or something where you’ve been diagnosed as schizophrenic or even
bipolar. It’s not entirely out of the question. It’s just that it will be more
difficult for you.
My sister told me once that a person who is schizophrenic
feels like they are sitting in the middle of a circle of chairs. On each chair
is a different radio tuned to a different station, all playing at
a loud volume. In the beginning, that was what psychic channeling was for me.
It only lasted a very short time (minutes… hours… I can’t remember) until I
made the first rule: “Only one person talks at a time.”
In those early days of psychic channeling, I set the stage,
so to speak, with crystals at hand, with music, with envisioning myself raising
my vibrations to meet the higher vibrations of those I would speak with.
Personally? I had no idea what I was doing. I was only acting on the advice of
others. Would I recommend the same for anyone wanting to learn how to channel
now? Yes, I think I would. Because, in the beginning, the psychic realm is in
another place. It is different. Eventually, you figure out that there really
isn’t any difference between normal life and psychic life, but in the beginning,
it just seems different.
Just as when I first tried to meditate. Getting to a place
where I thought I was meditating could take half an hour. Any longer than that
and I fell asleep. Now, it’s a lot faster.
Sometimes, I do what I call a psychic roll or a psychic dip.
It’s especially effective when I am lying down, though oftentimes it results in
a nap. My husband calls them my power naps. I imagine myself sinking, dropping,
rolling over in my mind. Sometimes I say to myself silently, “Go psychic!” And,
I allow myself to go wherever I need to be. Wherever that is.
In Reiki energy healing, you do the same thing with the
healing energy you draw from the universe that you want to give to another person. The first rule there is, as with medical people, “Do no harm.” The next step in the Reiki healing is to allow it to go wherever the client needs it to. The client
may have come to you with a pain in their shoulders, but the healing might need
to be directed a lifetime prior to their present lifetime, when they were a
soldier and got their head blown off. I can be that specific in this example
because it happened to me.
It’s very much like you would train yourself to do astral
traveling. It’s moving with your eyes closed. Your body is stationary, but in
your mind’s eye, you are envisioning yourself as you sit up in bed, as your
feet hit the floor, as you stand up and carefully walk down the hallway of your
apartment or your house to the front door. Whereupon you fling open the door
and step outside. You look up, and you are there. In the air above your house,
above the sidewalks and the road outside where you live. So, you start astral
traveling. Go to work. Go to school. Go to the library, all 20 feet off the
ground. In your pajamas and your bare feet. By the way, you never get lost. It’s
like a rule. Sometimes people imagine an undulating sort of umbilical cord that
attaches your astral self to your body. So, you are always tethered, and there
is no chance of getting lost in space.
Anyway, the psychic side of life is available to everyone.
It is an additional sense that you’re not always aware of, like seeing, touch,
taste, feeling, and smelling.
A tip? Learn a new skill where you need to use more of the
senses you already have. Like learn how to draw, or learn how to sing, or play
an instrument. We don’t utilize our senses completely anyway. It's a step toward enjoying a psychic side of life and toward enjoying your regular life at the same time.
In any case, I am always on with my psychic side of life. If
I can relax, it is better. If I can listen to some music to help me on my way,
it is better. But, if all I do is close my eyes? I’m doing it now to report
back to you what I sense.
Eyes closed: Forest, blue sky, birds. People. A woman,
small, brown skin….ah, the stinking phone rang…Eva from the Consumer
Transparency Group…I pressed the call block button on the phone, but dang, how often does that happen? Just when I am doing a psychic dip. The lady is
giggling. She has hidden her smiling face, her mouth behind her hand. She will
always be there. She has waited for me. I am emotionally undone. Again. Friends
on a psychic level. They are out there. They know you are there. It was enough.
I will visit her again. Next time, maybe.
Blessings to everyone. Write on!
