I am practicing cool right now. It’s almost noon, and in the last week we’ve had high temperatures. By 2 pm, I expect it will be hot, and I won’t be feeling as well as I do now.
However, with that said, I really do
feel okay right now. It’s the thought that I know it’s going to get hot that
has me tensing up. It’s an interesting feeling. Also, because of it, my neck
hurts. All because I’m anticipating something happening.
So, you would think now that I am aware
of this uncomfortable feeling near, I should reverse things and think about
something else. Which leads me to where our thoughts take us.
If you can start your day out on a good note,
then maybe you’ll have a few hours where you can work comfortably.
For instance, how many times do you
watch the news, which hasn’t been good lately, and come away from it worried or
angry? It’s like you say to the doctor, “It hurts when I do this,” and he says
back to you, “Well, don’t do that.”
Wait for the heat and then decide what
to do. I mean, if anything, you could go take a cold shower, couldn’t you? Don’t
spend your precious early and cool hours of the morning worrying about what’s
going to happen later in the day.
Shoot. I took a break. I’m going to be
watching Malcolm
Gladwell on MasterClass later on. I go there to get a feel for what
published writers think about. I figured I might read one of his books first. It’s
not a requirement, but hey, it’s respect for the writer. I went to purchase Outliers,
and Amazon told me I’d purchased it a few years ago. Okay, so I spent over half
an hour looking for it in the house. It’s all red. It’s going to stand out.
Finally, I ended up at AbeBooks for a
used copy and ended up getting David and Goliath, too, which will be discussed
in the course.
All of this then commenced an
interesting journey, which took me to the land of podcasts on Amazon Music.
Now, I’m not signed up, but even though they asked me to join, I said no and
got in anyway. I don’t understand. But, hey, I was there. I found a podcast by Tig.
She is a really funny woman. Deadpan. I feel like her sometimes, I think. So, I
started listening. She wasn’t anywhere near the podcast. I guess if your name
is on something, it’s not a mandatory thing that you show up. In the space of
25 seconds, a guest on the show said, “You know?” at least ten times. It might
have been more. I couldn’t get out of that fast enough. You know?
It's one of my pet peeves when somebody picks
a word and wears it out. It’s like they don’t know the meaning of two seconds
of silence. They’ve got to fill the air with their sound. Why? So they don’t
lose control? So they have your rapt attention? That guy had my attention so
good that had I been in the room with him, I might have spit my coffee out on him.
I can remember when I was in high school that I heard of the idea that when
people say, “Um” they are filling the air. The same amount of time of silence
will still ensure you’ve got your audience. It took me about three days to stop
saying it myself. Um. Ugly word. Somebody said your mouth is trying to keep
up with your brain. Just slow it all down a little bit. You’ll get somebody to
subscribe and describe you as well-spoken. Or, well-written if you are a
wordsmith.
Hey, thanks for reading. In this article,
you can see how a lady living on the WooWoo is able to exist and be an ordinary
person, too.
