Being Observant, Following the Rules, and Staying Sharp

I can remember when I was younger, people would say, in regard to anything, really, “If you don’t want to lose it, use it.” Mostly, it was muscle tone, but the same thing can be said about your sharp thinking, especially as you get older.

I have a theory. When you are young, you are likely in school and spend much of your time learning. Once you are a grown-up, you get a job. Yes, you spend time learning it, but at some point, you can almost go on autopilot and still get your work done with no problem. As I remember back through the years, I can see that the longer I held a job, the more likely procedures would change. Sometimes slightly and sometimes in big ways.

The internet has had a good deal to do with the changes we experienced. Companies didn’t want to wait for payments to arrive in the form of checks in the mail. You could say, “I just put it in the mail.” When, in fact, you just wrote it and put it in the outbox. It really won’t actually get in the mail until the next business day, which could be on the following Monday. The more people were able to pay for things online, the more companies wanted that too. Fast money.

If you make bank deposits in your company, getting that money into the bank had better be the most important thing you do that day. Allowing deposits to accumulate on the job site is just really bad for business. It might inconvenience you, but if your supervisor were aware that money wasn’t being deposited daily, I’d imagine they would be a bit peeved. Maybe even more than a bit peeved. Plus, you have to consider the safety involved, too. If you’re going to get robbed and the robber gets away with three days’ worth of deposits and just say that’s $25,000, then, yes, heads will roll even if you did not plan the heist. Had you been making regular, daily deposits, it would have been a smaller loss, something around $8,000. And, yes, the business likely has insurance against a loss like that, but insurance is insurance. Too many of the same claims, and the cost of insurance is going to go up. And, who pays for that? You do. For one thing, you won’t get raises as often as you did because there just aren’t the funds available.

So, do yourself a favor and change your mindset about who pays for what.

So, sorry about that. It was a tangent and one that probably didn’t belong in this article, but you know what? I don’t care. It’s something I care about a lot. I was in management. I also saw things you might call slippage in the workplace. People not being held accountable, and in the long run, everybody loses, including yourself.

How, then, if it doesn’t belong in an article about spiritual discovery, does it apply? If a person is indifferent about one thing in their lives, they could be just as indifferent about other areas. For instance, their relationship with God and Spirit.

Have you seen people who treat their co-workers and families badly? Maybe they just assume you know about something and don’t really check in with you to ensure you’re all on the same page. Or, they make decisions that involve you but don’t tell you about them in a timely fashion. “Oh, we’re going to my Aunt Matilda’s for dinner tonight. I said you’d bring the main dish. How many people are going to be there? I don’t know. I didn’t ask.” Now, if that were you on the receiving end of that information? I’d go and get some hot dogs and call it done.

God is going to be there whether you believe in him or not. Just wait. That’s all you have to do. Having a friend you can talk to on a spiritual level means a lot. At least, it does to me. And God doesn’t care if you’re angry at him. He can take it. And you’re entitled to be angry. About what? Shoot, about anything, really.

The thing is, in the years before I started channeling, I used to think God didn’t listen. Now, I know he does. He (or she) just doesn’t always answer you, or if he or she does, you can’t hear or perhaps understand the message.

One of the first things I teach students wanting to open to their own psychic awareness is that they would find it easier if they started noticing more things around them. To that end, I learned how to draw. Looking at life through the eyes of an artist is altogether different than if you aren’t using an artist’s eyes. Somebody like a scientist or an engineer needs to be aware of the work they are doing. If a cell is mutating at anything other than a normal pace, well, that could be important. Or, if a bridge is showing signs of stress, catching that sooner rather than later could save lives.

There are other things you can do, too, to keep the thinking machine oiled up. Don’t pollute it with drugs, alcohol, or smoke. I also know that nobody in the world is going to give up something they’ve become addicted to unless they really want to quit. But I’m just saying, if you quit, you will be okay, and you’ll still be able to think okay. That, actually, was a fear I had when I was considering becoming smoke-free. Yes, honest to truth, I thought I wouldn't be able to think the same way. If anything, I’ve gotten sharper.

Learning new things helps your brain. Doing crossword or Sudoku math puzzles helps, too. I suppose playing chess helps, and if you play bridge, though I’ve never learned, that would help too.

Also, being active physically and keeping fit mentally probably go hand in hand. I’m not an expert, but I’d imagine there is evidence supporting that idea.

Hey, I’ve got an opinion just like everybody else. I wanted to talk today about being observant, about playing fair, and about keeping your brain muscles exercised. Good topics as far as I’m concerned.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this piece. If you do follow along. I think there’s a button somewhere on the site. Be sure to check out the home page at Talking to Spirit to see what the Daily Channeling section has to offer. I’m up to 266 entries at this point. I am aiming for a year’s worth, which should happen sometime in August 2026. Every week or so, I try to get another bunch of ten or so done. Or, rather, Seth does them. I just do the typing end of things.

Thanks for reading. I’ve listed a bunch of other places where I write on the internet
