Something Funny About Prayer

Okay, so what do you want to talk about?

I don’t know. Why don’t you start?

If you’ve never been here before, I am a psychic channel. My part of this piece is in a normal font. My Spirit Guide is named Seth, and I will put his stuff in a bold italic font.

Well, that was easy.

Hey, it just occurred to me that you don’t have a last name.

I don’t need one.

I guess.

Yes, like the Michael Group. They don’t have a last name. Or Emmanuel or Proud Eagle. None of those Spirit Guides has a last name.

Well, you’ve got a point, I suppose. I mean, you don’t have an address either. How is anyone supposed to mail you a letter?

They could mail it to you.

That might be difficult. They’d have to do some research to get my address. It is out there, I just don’t promote it. Besides, I’m always writing, and I’m always in my bathrobe. I’m just not presentable.

I don’t mind.

Well, I know that.

People get dressed up to go to church, don’t they?

Well, this isn’t a church. We’re just talking.

I’ve got a spot, you know.

Where?

In Heaven. Good company.

One of the things that’s been on my mind lately is prayer.

What about it?

Well, as a Catholic, I learned the Hail Mary and the Our Father, but they were just words. It was just memorization. I still didn’t know how to pray. The problem is, well, what is the point?

You’re asking me what the point of prayer is?

Yes. Is that dumb?

No, of course not. Think of it this way. You play cards, right?

Yes.

But when you play Solitaire on your computer, you can get so hooked on it. You won’t let it alone and can go hours playing.

Giving away all my bad habits?

Yes. You asked about the point of prayer, and I’m using the game of Solitaire, the way you play it, to explain. Just a quick game of Solitaire doesn’t exist in your world. You can think that, but once you’ve started, it’s game on. It also explains why you’ve had such a sore neck for the last three days.

For some people, prayer is like that. It can be a quick check-in or a total immersion.

I feel bad about it.

Why?

Well, I’ve not been doing something that maybe I should have been doing.

No should’s about it. Don’t beat yourself up about it. Do you think by opening up to God that  you’ve won? Do you think this is a contest or a test?

No. But, I’m still tearing up about it.

There was a time when you were like that, when you couldn’t hear from your Spirit Guide. You didn’t know it was me, but then, you still kept trying. I’m pretty sure that’s why people continue to pray, whatever their religion is. And there are the good effects of prayer. If you’re trying to please God, well, it doesn’t mean human sacrifices anymore. It means being good. And being good is a good thing. You improve your own life. You have the capacity to improve the lives of others.

Thanks.

You are quite welcome.
